Walter Leo "Wally" Kent Jr., 65, Sumner, Iowa, father of a Stevens Point woman, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, at Northeast Iowa Christian Retirement Community in Strawberry Point, Iowa, from complications of Parkinson's disease.
Services were held Sunday, Aug. 28, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner, Iowa.
Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner, Iowa, was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Kent was born May 17, 1940, in Sumner, Iowa, a son of Walter L. Kent Sr. and the late Doris (Korman) Kent.
He served for seven years in the National Guard.
He was married to Carol Westendorf on Sept. 1, 1958, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
He worked for 40 years as a tractor technician at the John Deere Implement dealership in Sumner, Iowa, prior to retiring in 2000.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Jeffrey (Terri), Iola; one daughter, Tammy (Jeff) Krueger, Stevens Point; his father, Sumner, Iowa; one sister, Eileen Paulus, Maynard, Iowa; two grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
