Public Record Police Reports Portage County Burglars hit several taverns in the Amherst area over the weekend, authorities said. Club Orlow, 112 S. Main St., Amherst, reported someone tried to break in sometime between 3 and 7 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, a Portage County Sheriff's Department report said. Nothing was reported missing. Lake Emily Inn, 3984 Second St., Amherst Junction, reported someone broke in and stole $500 cash sometime between 3:30 and 8 a.m. that day. Junction Bar, 3986 Second St., Amherst Junction, reported someone broke in during the same time period and stole $400 cash. Candy Bar Tavern, 2221 Custer Road, Custer, reported someone broke in sometime Saturday morning and stole $250 cash. Deja-Vu, 152 S. Main St., reported someone attempted to break in Saturday morning. Pigs on the loose A town of Carson resident reported Thursday, Sept. 2, that seven pigs belonging to his neighbors were in his yard and eating his apples, a report said. Deputies went to the pig owner's home, but he was either not there or trying to avoid authorities. Since they couldn't make contact with the 31-year-old man, they mailed a citation for having animals at large to his house. Stevens Point Someone broke into a car in the 400 block of N. Frederick Street sometime between midnight and 4 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, and stole a compact disc player from the dash, a compact disc changer from the trunk, an amplifier and seven compact discs, a Stevens Point Police Department report said. Estimated loss is $1,584. Police arrested an 18-year-old Stevens Point man for riding illegally on a vehicle at 11:27 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, a report said. Officers saw a Chevrolet Blazer leave a parking lot in the 300 block of Division Street, with the man holding onto the spare tire mounted on the rear of the sports utility vehicle. Cow on the loose Officers were called at 6:24 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, to a report of a cow on the loose in the 800 block of Oak Ridge Lane, a Stevens Point Police Department log entry said.
