Four-day Rosholt Fair slated for Sept. 3-6 at fairgrounds

The Rosholt Fair will celebrate its 73rd annual fair from Friday, Sept. 3, to Monday, Sept. 6 at the Rosholt Fairgrounds in Rosholt.

Featured events include a parade at noon Saturday, the animal market sale on Saturday and the annual Labor Day Run and the demolition derby on Monday.

There will also be amusement rides and softball and horseshoe tournaments. Special events include wristbands on Friday evening and Kids Day with reduced prices on Saturday afternoon.

The fair begins on Friday with judging in the Exhibition Building at 9 a.m., and Southbound will provide music at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, rabbit, cat, swine and poultry judging starts at 9 a.m. and sheep judging at 10 a.m.

The parade begins at noon from Rosholt High School and will go south to Highway 66, then east to Main Street and north on Main to the fairgrounds. For safety purposes, parade participants are asked not to throw candy along 66 because the parade uses the westbound lane and through-traffic continues on the eastbound lane. Candy is thrown from parade units on all other parts of the route.

The rest of the Saturday fair schedule includes bingo at 2 p.m., Wheels & Deals Square Dancers on stage at 2 p.m., Jolly Chaps music at 2 p.m., announcement of parade winners on stage at 3 p.m., "Pirates Factory" comedy show at 3 p.m., buyers' dinner for Animal Market Sale at 6 p.m., Grenadiers on stage at 6 p.m., Animal Market Sale at 7 p.m. and music by Detour at 8 p.m.

On Sunday, events include horse judging at 8 a.m., dairy goat judging at 9:30 a.m., dairy judging at 10:30 a.m., bingo at 1 p.m., Wisla Polish Folk Dancers at 1 p.m., David Drake kids show at 1:30 p.m., Otis and the Alligators music at 2 p.m., Wisla Polish Folk Dancers at 2:30 p.m., Wizards on front stage at 3 p.m., David Drake at 3:30 p.m., Four Reasons Why music at 4:30 p.m. and Four Way Stop music at 8 p.m.

The Monday events include the Labor Day Run at 9 a.m., dog obedience west of the cattle barn at 9 a.m., bingo at 1 p.m., 4-H Dress Revue followed by the Talent Show at 1 p.m., the demolition derby at 1 p.m. and Norm Dombrowski and the Happy Notes music at 2 p.m.

Exhibits will also be released on Monday, animals at 1 p.m. and those in the Junior Building at 4 p.m. All exhibits must be removed by 7 p.m. Monday.
