Hull Town Board authorizes cutting in right-of-way to improve vision

The Hull Town Board authorized cutting growth in the right-of-way at the intersection of Granite Ridge and Saw Mill roads Monday night.

Town officials have been trying to rectify the situation at that intersection. A property owner was willing to transplant some of the natural plants from there. However, officials have been unable to reach the individual to discuss the situation so they authorized cutting.

"We have to cut it back to the right-of-way," said Town Supervisor Wayne Hartzheim. "We have to cut it because of the liability. You have to pull out onto the road to see."

The board also scheduled a special meeting for Thursday night, Aug. 5, to discuss the construction project on Jordan Road.

Town Chairman John Holdridge said questions have been raised about the base of the road and how it is mixed. He attributed the situation to one engineer designing the plan and then the state hiring a second engineer for the construction.

The board named Supervisor Jack Elsinger as coordinator for Y2K planning in the town and requested that he bring back a plan.

Hartzheim provided an update on the 1999 budget, saying there were a few areas of the budget where there might be overruns and a few others with surpluses.
