Business Council seeks sponsors for Honor Cards

The Portage County Business Council is seeking Honor Card sponsors for the 1999-2000 school year.

Honor Cards are given to junior and senior high school students having a grade-point average of 3.2 and above. The program has been in use by Stevens Point area public and parochial schools since 1989 and the Tomorrow River schools since 1998.

Sponsors do not need to be members of the Business Council. They are asked to provide a discount and/or free item to students who present their Honor Card. Sponsors are also given the opportunity to include the family of the honor student in their discount.

Businesses interested in the program or seeking more information should contact Karen Zinda at the Business Council, 344-1940.

The Business Council works with local businesses, governments and area school districts to strengthen Portage County's business climate and promote economic growth and development while enhancing the quality of life in central Wisconsin.
