Crime Stoppers seeks help solving 10 daytime burglaries

Local law enforcement agencies are seeking your help in apprehending persons who have been involved in as many as 10 recent daytime burglaries.

These burglaries have been in an area around Stevens Point and Plover, and out in the county, said Deputy Jack Mrozinski of the Portage County Crime Stoppers.

Witnesses stated a vehicle was seen in the area, Mrozinski said. Authorities want to question the operators. Witnesses described the vehicle as an older, dark-brown, full-size conversion van. The van was also described as having a wide stripe that possibly turns from yellow to orange to brown along the side of the vehicle. Witnesses also stated that up to four males were seen walking in the area of these burglaries.

Items stolen during the burglaries include firearms, jewelry, electronics, food and cash, Mrozinski said.

Citizens are asked to report anything suspicious to Crime Stoppers or their local law enforcement agencies.

If a suspicious vehicle is observed, try to get its license plate number and description, Mrozinski said. As long as you can remain safe, try to get a description of the occupants.

Your call to Crime Stoppers could earn you a cash reward of up to $1,000. Remember, you can remain anonymous and still be eligible for this cash reward. Telephone Crime Stoppers at 1-888-346-6600.
