Project Fresh Start seeks school supplies
Schools throughout Portage County will be starting in a month or so, and Project Fresh Start is again seek donations
of school supplies.
Project Fresh Start is a continuing program designed to coordinate efforts to collect and distribute school supplies
to children in need, identified and referred by teachers and principals. Project Fresh Start is sponsored by the
United Way Volunteer Center and the Portage County Health & Human Services Department.
The collection is going on through Monday, Aug. 13, and several Portage County businesses are acting as collection
points.
The collection points include the Portage County Business Council, Target, Wal-Mart, ShopKo, M&I Bank, Firstar
Bank, Sentry, Department on Aging, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, CenterPoint MarketPlace, Noel Group, Associated Bank,
Anchor Bank, Point Plus Credit Union, Bancroft State Bank, Sunrise Medical, Qualex, Portage County Bank, Wisconsin
Central Ltd. and numerous area churches.
Items needed by area children include:
· book bags/backpacks
· blue and black pens
· calculators
· colored pencils
· crayons
· pen and ink erasers
· fine line black markers
· school glue/glue sticks
· index cards
· large pencil pouches
· loose leaf notebook paper (wideline)
· spiral notebooks (wideline)
· red marking pens and pencils
· paper dictionaries
· pencil sharpeners
· pocket folders
· rulers
· school boxes
· scissors
· water markers
· toothpaste/toothbrushes
· shampoo/conditioner
· combs and brushes
