Police Reports

Stevens Point

Bomb threat: School and police officials determined a 13-year-old girl was responsible for a bomb threat written on a school desk in a classroom at P.J. Jacobs Junior High School Thursday, April 13, a Stevens Point Police Department report said. She gave conflicting statements during the investigation and later admitted to writing the threat. She indicated she had no intention of harming anyone or making a bomb, but that she was just mad. She was suspended from school pending further disciplinary action and referred to juvenile court on the charge of conveying a bomb scare.

Fires

Town of Carson

Fire struck a town of Carson home and garage early Wednesday morning, April 19, a Portage County Sheriff's Department report said. At 1:53 a.m., a motorist on Highway 10 at Highway O called in a structure fire. When deputies and the Rudolph Fire Department arrived at the Kevin R. Deppe property, 2346 Highway O, they found the garage and half of the house was fully engulfed in flames. Rudolph fire stations No. 1, 2 and 3 were all at the scene and extinguished the fire quickly, but the house was a total loss. No one was in the home at the time of the fire and no firefighters were injured in the blaze. The Portage County Task Force is investigating the blaze.
