The Portage County Public Library is now offering 7 Day Express, a bestseller rental program, for those people who are eager to read the bestsellers.
A book rental fee of $1 per week will be used to help keep the collection current. The library's goal is to have the top 10 fiction bestsellers always available for rent. As with any new service, it may take some time to gauge the demand, so the library asks for people to patient as it determines the number of copies to have available.
The books may be rented for an additional week for a second $1 payment. The books, however, must be brought to the library to be rented again. There is no grace period for the rental books. Books kept longer than seven days are charged at the rate of 25 cents per day. Rental books are available on a "first-come, first-served" basis. They cannot be reserved or held.
The rental bestseller collection is a supplement to the library's regular collection. Those readers who are willing to wait on the reserve list will still be able to place holds on copies from the regular library collection.
