Women's Club tours county historical park

The Stevens Point Woman's Club started its 1999-2000 season by meeting at the Portage County Historical Park in Plover.

A tour of the buildings and the museum was given by Anton Anday and a 1905 meal was catered for the group.

Jan Flood, president, presented to the Stevens Point Woman's Club a first-place award for Libraries 2000 that was received at the International Convention in San Francisco this summer. Also she reported that the club's Theodora Yomans candidate, Ann Klesmith, won that award at the state convention in Eau Claire. She received a plaque and a monetary amount to be used on her projects with the "under-privileged and under-served" persons.

The 1999-2000 budget was adopted and several fund-raising ideas were presented, including "Adopt the Highway" program in October, the membership invitational on Sept. 21 at Barb Ceplina's home and the "Taco Boat Sale" at Art in the Park. Also money will be donated to the Community Foundation of Portage County Millennium Fund. A contribution will be given to the Historical Society.

The next Woman's Club meeting will be on Oct. 12 at Gary Nations Restaurant. Anyone wanting to attend should call Jan Flood-344-8243.
