Golden Needles Quilters Quilt Gathering set for July 28
The Golden Needle Quilters Quilt Gathering will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28, in the Almond
School Gym. Vendors will be available.
"Risky Business Continues" is the title of the presentation by guest speaker Harriet Schoeninger at 10:30
a.m.
Schoeninger, Oconomowoc, will present a humorous, but informative lecture. Her 45-minute presentation features
30 quilts inspiring quilters to feel creative when they don't feel like it.
Schoeninger is a former high school teacher who enjoys sharing her love of quilting with everyone. "Quilting
is my passion," she said. She recently moved from the Waupaca area to Oconomowoc. While at Waupaca she belonged
to the quilt guild there and taught many classes at Nichols Creek Studio.
Schoeninger has been designing and making quilts, lecturing and teaching quilt making for more than 25 years throughout
the Midwest. A number of her original quilt designs have been published by Chitra Publications. Her main emphasis
in quilting is traditional patterns with a twist. She is currently teaching at Wauskesha County Technical College
in Wauskesha.
The quilt show is free and features quilts, wallhangings, runners and a holiday corner. The show consists of projects
made by the members of the Golden Needle Quilters and surrounding quilt guilds.
The raffle quilt this year is a feathered star and LeMoyne star in pink, blue, and beige florals made by one of
the club's members. Tickets will be available at the show or from guild members. It will be on display at the Portage
County Bank in Almond for the month of July.
The show is in conjunction with the Almond Lions Club Tater Toot.
Quilters interested in exhibiting in the show should contact Mickie Pagel at 1247 Kamel St., Almond, WI 54909. |
