The Portage County Aging and Disability Resource Center offers senior center classes and activities in addition to its one-stop resource about services for older adults, people with disabilities, their families and caregivers. The following take place at Lincoln Center, 1519 Water St., unless otherwise noted, during the week of May 15-20. For information call 346-1401 or 1-800-586-5055.

May 17 is the registration deadline for the Central Wisconsin Senior Olympics events other than bowling and golf. Registration forms are available at Lincoln Center. For people age 55 and over, this year's events, to be held from May 22 to 25, include tennis, bowling, pool, miniature golf, horseshoes, shuffleboard, golf, track and field, opening ceremony and awards banquet.

The Diabetes Support Group will meet Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Linda Bartram, R.D., of St. Michael's Hospital, will present nutrition information for diabetics including making smart decisions when dining out, fat and carbohydrate content of foods, healthy eating options to lose and maintain weight, and guidelines for overall nutritional health. There will be a question-and-answer period and refreshments. The group is sponsored by the St. Michael's Foundation. New members welcome. Register by calling Healthline at 346-5463.

Brenda Gingles will provide an update on the Riverfront Arts Center at Friday's "Get to the Point." Come early for coffee, presentation is at 9:30 a.m.

Older adults looking for full- or part-time jobs can meet with Donna Swanson of the Portage County Job Center on Thursday at Lincoln Center from 9 to 11 a.m. She can provide information about employment opportunities in the Stevens Point area. Advance appointments are appreciated, but walk-ins are welcome.

Lincoln Center's play reading group will meet Friday at 11 a.m. Older adults are invited to join for the enjoyment of reading one-act plays. Isabelle Stelmahoske is the coordinator.

New crafters are always welcome to join the Holly Shoppe. Portage County residents age 55 and over are invited to sell their handcrafts through the shop. Participants determine prices for their craft items and the shop adds sales tax and a commission to defray operating expenses. There is a $5 annual membership fee. Craft items may be brought in for registration each Friday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Lincoln Center. For further information, call the shop manager, Kathy Fandre, at 346-1401.
