Trip onto the Web can bring greetings

By GENE KEMMETER
of The Gazette
Each week in this space, we'd like to offer readers with computers some little tips about going on the Internet.

And we welcome readers' recommendations about some interesting Websites they've come upon.

Of course, what better way to introduce a surfing adventure on the Web than by sending a greeting.

One delightful adventure is to send a greeting card to a relative or friend. If you go to "bluemountainarts.com" you'll have a selection of musical electronic greeting cards you can personalize and send to someone.

The selection runs the gamut of cards normally available.

Every day greetings include birthdays, belated birthdays, friends, thank you and a few surprises such as Chinese horoscopes and coffee break. One "coffee break" card offers assistance on how to have fun on the job, such as making a paper clip circus or memo hats.

The Comfort, Encouragement and Congratulations category offers selections for get well, good luck, support and sympathy.

The Love category includes "Send a Hug" and "I Like You" while Events & Milestones covers "Bon-Voyage," "Farewell," "Retirement" and "Vacation."
Remaining categories are Family, Earth, Animals & Plants, Arts & Literature, Religions and Nations.

In the catchall category of Other, there are cards for Boy Scouts, Computer, Girl Scouts, Sports and Professions. In Professions you can send a card to a Realtor, business person, psychologist, secretary, carpenter, painter, receptionist, waitress or waiter and banker. Sorry, there's no card for a writer, apparently it's not considered a profession.

Want to send a holiday greeting to someone? There's cards for the Fourth of July and U.S. Independence (although two separate files, they're the same cards) and Brothers and Sisters Day on July 8.

It's too late to send out cards, except belatedly, for Dragon Boat Festival on June 18 and World Whale Day on June 21, but you can look at those and other offerings for recent holidays in the last couple of months and find out what you missed.

But don't miss Parents Day on July 25 or Friendship Day on Aug. 1. You've been forewarned.
