Carlyle R. Scanlan, 84, rural Bancroft, died Sunday, July 27, 2014, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 31, at the United Methodist Church in Plainfield.
Visitation will be at the Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home in Plainfield from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, and at the church from 10 a.m. Thursday until the services.
A memorial has been established.

Mr. Scanlan was born Nov. 28, 1929, in the town of Buena Vista, a son of the late Roy and Ethel (Boushley) Scanlan.
He was married to Ruth E. Beyer April 22, 1956, at the United Methodist Church in Plainfield.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
After service he returned home where he and his wife farmed for most of his life.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Plainfield, the Plainfield/Waushara Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6007 of Plainfield and the American Legion Post 339 of Almond.
He and his wife spent the last 30 winters in Florida where he spent time fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth E. Scanlan, Bancroft; one son, Scott (Jodi) Scanlan, Bancroft; two daughters, Deborah (Jerry) Nelson, Arena, and Vicki (Dave) Miller, Montgomery, Texas; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandsons.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Webster; and one granddaughter.
