A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Davenport, Iowa. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Davenport.
Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. Saturday until the Mass.

Dr. Van Hecke was born July 20, 1930, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Carl E. and Leone (Johnson) Van Hecke. He attended St. Stephen Catholic Elementary School and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School.
He entered the University of Wisconsin-Madison and transferred to Marquette University, Milwaukee, where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1952. He was awarded a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1956 from Marquette University.
He interned at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee and completed four year residency in internal medicine at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.
Dr. Van Hecke had a practice in Davenport and was a staff member at Genesis Medical Center before retiring in 2000.
He was married to Judy Ann McGrath June 11, 1955, in Davenport, Iowa. She died in 1995.
He was a member of the American College of Physicians, American Society of Internal Medicine, Iowa Medical Society, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and Phi Chi Medical Fraternity.
After retirement, he was a Befriender in the Spiritual Care department of Genesis Medical Center.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia “Patty” (Paul) McCarthy, Iowa City, Iowa; two sons, D. Charles (Cathy Baechle) Van Hecke Jr., Chicago, Ill., and Dr. Peter C. Van Hecke, Kensington, Md.; and two grandsons.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy.
