Richard R. Rutta, 84, Stevens Point, died Monday, June 9, 2014, at Lakeview Manor Nursing Home in Weyauwega following a long illness.
Graveside services with full military rites will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 12, in Forest Cemetery in Stevens Point.
Memorials in his name to the Humane Society of Portage County would be appreciated.

Mr. Rutta was born July 25, 1929, in Milwaukee, a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Zoromski) Rutta.
He entered the U.S. Army Jan. 8. 1952, in Milwaukee. During the Korean War he served with a bomb disposal unit in Alaska. He was honorably discharged Dec. 17, 1953, at Fort Sheridan, Ill.
He was married to Mary Literski in 1950.
Upon his return from the service, he worked as a diesel mechanic until his retirement in 1987.
He was a long time member of American Legion Berens-Scribner Post 6.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; one daughter, Sue (Don) Baumgartner; three sons, Ron (Nancy), Paul (Rita) and Jim (Lisa); one brother, Rhody (Marlene); three sisters-in-law, Marge (Dan) Adamzak, Esther Bigus and Bridget Morton; six grandchildren; one stepgranddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.
