Portage County executive Patty Dreier hosted an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Summit, May 15, and invited EMS representatives from every municipality in the county to participate in sharing ideas, questions and concerns.
The goal of the summit was to improve communication among stakeholders of the countywide EMS, to ask questions and to generate ideas for improvement of the system as a whole. Out of Portage County’s 27 municipalities, 21 sent representatives to participate.
“This was about gathering,” Dreier said. “We haven’t gathered in a while, just gathered ideas, without emotion, without pointing fingers, to truly look at ourselves from the outside and try to seek some common understanding about where we are and what possibilities might be ahead of us.”
