Irma B. Sherwood, 89, Stevens Point, died Friday, May 2, 2014, at North Ridge Assisted Living Center while under the care of Heartland Hospice.
A memorial service will be held at the Community United Church of Christ in St. Germain at 1 p.m. Friday, May 9.

Mrs. Sherwood was born Aug. 2, 1924, in Evanston, Ill., a daughter of the late Fred and Minnie (Lochman) Breitzmann. In her youth she earned Chicago area trophies in speed skating and was invited to try out for the All-American Woman’s Baseball League.
She was married to Eben Sherwood. They were married for 64 years before his death.
They lived in Evanston until their retirement in 1975, and she worked there as a school crossing guard.
In retirement they moved to the St. Germain area and she worked as a waitress at Blink Bonnie in St. Germain for more than 16 years.
She was active in the St. Germain Women’s Service Club and worked on the club’s activities, especially the club’s college scholarship program.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan (Bruce Weigel) Sherwood and Holly (Chuck) Rasmussen; two granddaughters, Katie (Alex) Wilkes and Courtney (Matt Zimmer) Rasmussen; one great-grandson, Chase Wilkes.
She was also preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
