The 10th-ranked Panthers returned only four starters from a year ago, when they won their 14th consecutive Wisconsin Valley Conference (WVC) Title and advanced to the WIAA Division 1 State Semifinals.
With six underclassmen in its starting lineup this season, SPASH is off to a 9-3 start so far, and will look to build momentum as it heads into the final stretch of the regular season and the start of the WIAA Division 1 Playoffs later this month.
“Two of our seniors, Megan Roth and Brianna Flugaur, are pretty big-time players, and then we have a lot of young kids who have a lot of talent,” said SPASH softball head coach Tom Drohner. “So we’re kind of finding our way as the year goes on, but I like where we’re at.
“Some of these young kids are learning how to win games, and I think it’s going to pay dividends for us down the road,” he said.
