A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Steven Olson officiating.
Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the service.
Memorials may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Stevens Point Area Education Association Foundation.

Mrs. Hedquist was born Feb. 14, 1921, in Iola, a daughter of the late Lorin and Edna (French) Peterson. She grew up in Iola, attended local schools and graduated from Iola High School.
She went on to Central State Teachers College in Stevens Point (now the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point) and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in primary education.
She taught school in Waupaca County for four years and taught first grade in Stevens Point for 24 years, teaching many living in the community how to read.
She was married to John G. Hedquist June 9, 1945, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Iola. He died in 2004.
They lived all their married life in Stevens Point.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she had taught Sunday School and Bible School, was a member of the choir and served on the Altar Guild.
She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and served as president of Sigma State Chapter, was a member of the Wisconsin Retired Educators Association, the Stevens Point Area Retired Teachers’ Association and RSVP.
She and her husband volunteered for Summer Special Olympics. She also volunteered in the Parent to Parent Program.
Survivors include two sons, John Patrick (Susan), Fish Creek, and Paul Michael (Margy), Loveland, Colo.; one daughter, Jean Ellen (Steven) Scherer, Stevens Point; one sister, Mavis Lewis, Rochester, Minn.; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
She was also preceded in death by one stepgrandson.
