It’s too soon to plant, but you can plan now to make sure you put the right plant in the right place.
Bob Koca is a certified arborist from Bancroft who has been doing landscape design, installation and maintenance for nearly 40 years. “Half of our work is redoing installation errors,” he told the Portage County Master Gardener Volunteers recently.
Select the right plant for the right place, and place it at the right depth, he advises. A common error is planting trees too deeply. “I’d rather have you plant a tree one inch too high than one inch too deep.”
