Some folks have assumed that because I spent some four decades in radio broadcasting that I met a lot of famous people. That’s really not true – working in small market stations doesn’t give a broadcaster such opportunities very often. But still, I did get to “meet” a few celebrities over the years.
I don’t dwell on this kind of stuff, but recently, I thought about famous people I’ve crossed paths with and decided to try to recollect some of them.
Perhaps my most cherished “meeting” was with the late Walter Cronkite. The Milwaukee Press Club awarded the CBS news anchor its “Sacred Cat Award” in 1975 at its annual Gridiron Dinner.
