Ruth E. Anderson, 96, Waupaca, a former Stevens Point resident, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014. She was a resident at Bethany Home in Waupaca for the past two years.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, with Pastor Jennifer Denetz officiating and Pastor Fred Lueders giving the eulogy.
Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation and funeral services at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials may be made to the South New Hope Cemetery Association in the town of New Hope in Portage County or the Little Wolf Cemetery Association in the town of Little Wolf in Waupaca County.
Mrs. Anderson was born July 11, 1917, in Manawa, a daughter of the late Clarissa and Raymond Stevens. As a teenager, she moved to Scandinavia to live with her sister and graduated from high school in 1937, becoming the only member among her siblings to earn a high school diploma.
She attended cosmetology school in Appleton and worked as a beautician in Stevens Point and Waupaca.
She was married to Carl Anderson May 25, 1940.
She was a homemaker, also caring for her mother and volunteering at Trinity Lutheran Church, United Methodist Church and Shepherd of the Lakes.
She was a member of Waupaca Pythian Sisters.
In the early 1970s she began a new career as a seamstress with an interest in fashion. For more than 23 years, she worked at Meredith’s Fashion Shop in Waupaca along with her friends Ingrid, Ramona and Leah.
Survivors include two daughters, Carole (Wayne) Schroeder, Appleton, and Julie (Brad) Walborn, Weyauwega; one son, Jon (Judy), Waupaca; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
