I could have just waved goodbye. But Buster, my sidekick cocker spaniel, and I felt the urge to get outside in the grouse woods one more time. You see, the season to hunt ruffed grouse with a gun ended last week Friday in Wisconsin.
The final week of this year’s hunt was a real weather roller-coaster. Schools were closed Monday and Tuesday due to extreme wind chill warnings – minus-65 degrees below zero. Wednesday it had “moderated” to minus-10 below zero without the wind chill.
