Well the Community Weight Race for 2014 has begun! Have you gotten your wristband yet? I tried this last year, since some of my co-workers were interested, but really didn’t have a lot of success.
What I did learn though was that it takes a willingness to change things in your life, making a plan for what you want to change and then putting those changes into action. Without those three key elements not much is going to happen.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago, when the race for this year was about to begin. I went through all the information that was provided at the check-in, but still didn’t really feel prepared. Yes, there is a lot of encouragement, presentations, classes and activities that are provided, and these are really wonderful resources.
But I felt like something had been skipped. Something really basic. After my experience last year, I wanted to have a plan that would help me be successful. How much do I lose? Is my goal realistic? How much would I need to lose each week to reach my goal? How does my diet and lifestyle need to change? Where am I going to find the time and the motivation to make those changes?
I wanted the answers to those questions right away. So I did what I usually do.
