Ann Henschel Gjertsen, 102, Janesville, a former Nekoosa resident and Portage County native, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Home in Janesville, a day after celebrating her 102nd birthday with her family.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nekoosa, with the Rev. John Swing officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Nekoosa.
Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the Mass.

Mrs. Gjertsen was born Jan. 13, 1912, in the town of Grant in Portage County, the 11th child of the late Jacob and Mary (Nemec) Wanicheck. She attended local schools and remained on the farm taking care of the household duties for her brothers and father until her father’s death.
She graduated from the Modern School of Beauty Culture in Milwaukee in 1936 and continued her education by attending night classes at several schools. She owned and operated the Beauty Nook salon in Nekoosa for 35 years.
She was married to Fred Henschel April 6, 1938. He died in 1967.
She was married to George Gjertsen Oct. 16, 1976. He died Nov. 14, 2002.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish Council of Catholic Women, church choir and the American Association of Retired Persons. She also drove for the Meals on Wheels program.
Survivors include one daughter, Jewel Henschel (Mike) Liebenstein Sr., Janesville; one stepdaughter, Gail Gjertsen Lowrey, Wisconsin Rapids; two grandsons, Michael Liebenstein Jr., Taiwan, and Eric M. Liebenstein, Sayner; one granddaughter, Anne Marie (Mike) Winters, Mequon; and three great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.
