Some day when genetic modification becomes our personal option, I am looking forward to an accessory restoring an ability we last had in the Late Permian when we as rodents could smell and differentiate as well as any bloodhound.
I am jealous of a wine nose that can smell a Rhine from a Mosel and the Danube from the Ruhr. A regard for essences that here in the upper Wisconsin any person with training could detect by scent alone Wausau from Stevens Point and Merrill from Mosinee.
Actually quite a simple matter, to smell the difference between hay fields, clover from alfalfa, brome grass from orchard grass, timothy from turkey foot. If one day with genetic accessories we might regain the nose of a dog, this at the option of designing parents, who can choose between a facility for math or a genius of a nose.
Myself I would opt for the nose.
