Two comets are visible the entire month of December. To follow Comet ISON go to the website waitingforison.wordpress.com/December-2013/ to see “Show Me” guides on where to find Comet ISON all December. Comet ISON will be a pre-dawn object and brighter the first half of December but an evening comet the second half of December.
Comet Lovejoy will stay a binocular object all of December. It will travel through Bootes from Friday, Nov. 29, through Wednesday, Dec. 4; then into Corona Borealis till Dec. 12; and spend the rest of December in Hercules.
During December Comet Lovejoy is supposed to go from a 6.0 magnitude and dim down to a 7.4 magnitude by months’ end. Any magnitude less than an 8.0 is visible in binoculars.
