Caroljean H. Viertel, 71, a longtime Stevens Point resident and mother of a Junction City woman, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, in Sanford, N.C.
A celebration of her life was held Saturday, Nov. 16, at Cool Springs Baptist Church in Sanford, N.C.
An additional memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Stevens Point in the spring. A date will be announced.

Mrs. Vietel was born Sept. 26, 1942, in Duluth, Minn., a daughter of the late Bjarne Blix and Alma (Larsen) Blix-Synnes.
She was married to Kurt Viertel Dec. 24, 1971, in Burbank, Calif.
They later relocated to Stevens Point, where they owned and operated Judd’s Fast Food Restaurant in Park Ridge. She was also employed as a hairdresser for 50 years in both California and Wisconsin.
She was a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, where she served in many capacities, and the Order of Eastern Star, Arbutus Chapter 52.
Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer (Chad) Delany, Sanford, N.C., and Jackie (Scott) Kerchefski, Junction City; a special friend, Kurt Viertel, Stevens Point; one brother, Rolf Blix; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
