The Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) girls tennis team will send one individual and a pair of doubles teams to the WIAA Division 1 Individual State Meet, while the Pacelli High School girls tennis team qualified one doubles team for the WIAA Division 2 State Meet this weekend.
Sixth-seeded freshman Emily Luetschwager (25-2) qualified for SPASH in singles play, while the Panthers also advanced the doubles teams of sophomores Jaide Barber and Juliet Champion (13-10) and seniors Maddie Tosseth and Samara Suomi (19-7) to the Division 1 State Meet at Nielsen Tennis Complex in Madison Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 17-19.
Meanwhile, the Pacelli doubles team of junior Molly Wirtz and sophomore Nicole Schroeder (14-3) qualified for the Division 2 State Meet, which will also take place at the Nielsen Tennis Complex Thursday through Saturday.
“It’s a great opportunity for the girls,” said SPASH girls tennis head coach Gary Baier. “It’s just really exciting, and the kids all deserve it and they’re pumped.
“It will be a lot of fun,” said Baier.
