A few weekends ago, I spent an afternoon with some poky peddlers. Have you heard of them? It’s a nice group of people who enjoy riding bikes on a Saturday and the idea is not necessarily to get anywhere or get there fast ‑ the idea is just to have fun. Sometimes, but not always, there is a theme to the rides, and it sounded like an interesting event to check out.
I had heard of this group awhile ago, and meant to catch up with them all summer and have some fun with them. However, not being the most organized person in the world, other things got in the way and I didn’t get around to it like I wanted. I run a lot of errands on Saturday mornings, and since things in life can be unpredictable, sometimes they run long and I miss my window of opportunity.
This particular Saturday, however, I was bound and determined to get there. The group meets twice a month in the summer in various places depending on the theme for that week’s ride. This particular week the group was meeting in the parking lot at Schmeekle Reserve, and the theme was Whatever Happened To Mosey Creek? I have lived in town most of my life, except for my college years, and had heard bits and pieces of the story and was curious to know.
