What to talk about this week … let’s see. How about a tour of my crazy office? That should be good for a week’s worth of laughs. Literally.
A long time ago I had a very stressful job that involved recreating the wheel pretty much every day. I was young, I didn’t mind the stress, and I was up for it. I’ve always had a very creative mind and have always thought of things in unconventional ways, so working as a graphic designer has, for the most part, always been a lot of fun for me.
I’ve always been a workhorse. I like getting things done. And when I get my teeth into a problem, I like to immerse myself in it and rip it apart from the inside out in a very obsessive way. This, like all things, tends to have its good points and bad points.
I’ve also always been aware that balance is a very important part of life. So one day I thought it would be a good idea to start bringing toys to work. I figured – and correctly so – that having a little bit of fun in the midst of all that workhorseness would be a good thing.
I mainly did it to remind myself to stop and take time to relax my thinker a bit, and be silly for awhile. Sometimes you can grip an idea too tightly, and that doesn’t allow creativity to flow.
