A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home in Clintonville, with Deacon Lincoln Wood officiating. Military Honors will be provided by members of the American Legion Post 63 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 664, both of Clintonville.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, until the service.
Mr. Smith was born March 16, 1955, a son of the late Donald and Shirley (Krueger) Smith. The family lived in the Bear Creek area and as a young man they moved to Marion.
He entered the U.S. Army, serving from 1972 to 1975, and he was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.
After service he settled in Clintonville.
He was married to Karen H. Mackowiak Aug. 11, 2006. She died Aug. 13, 2009.
He worked for 33 years with the city of Clintonville Street Department, retiring in July 2010.
He was a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Marion and St. Rose Catholic Church in Clintonville.
Survivors include three children, Tim (Kelly) Smith, Clintonville, Tara (significant other Eric Schmidt) Smith, Hatley, and Holly (Mike) Wegener, Manawa; three sisters, Kathy Schumacher, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Joan (Eugene) Uhl Jr., Amherst, and Patricia (Vernon) Pelkey, Marion; one brother, Mike (Sharon), Madison; and five grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Holly Smith and Barbara Gollnow; and one brother, David Smith.
