Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Plover-Shuda Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ben Sheets officiating. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton.
Visitation will be at the funeral home 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday Sept. 11.
Memorials will be established in his name for the Humane Society of Portage County and an educational scholarship.

Mr. Zimmerman was born July 25, 1945, in Appleton, a son of the late Lawrence and Lucille (Risse) Zimmerman. He graduated from Appleton High School (now West) and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
He was married to Judith Potter Aug. 15, 1970, in Appleton.
The couple settled in Appleton until moving to Plover in 1973.
He worked for Portage County Social Services until 1984. He went on to earn a master’s degree from UW-Oshkosh and began a new career as a guidance counselor at Wisconsin Rapids Junior High School, retiring in 2001.
Survivors include his wife, Plover; one brother, Dr. Richard (Kathleen), West Bend; one sister, Nancy (Donald) Wallace, Madison; nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Luann Thorson.
