A funeral service will be at St. Dennis Catholic Church in Madison at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7.
Visitation will be at Gunderson East Funeral Home in Madison, from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, and at the church from 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, until the service.
Donations may be made to the Agrace HospiceCare Center and/or the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center.

Mrs. Alery was born May 21, 1941, a daughter of Alice and Olaf Hestnes. She grew up in Cottage Grove and attended Monona Grove High School, graduating in 1959.
She attended Luther College in Iowa and UW-Madison.
She was a stay-at-home mom for 16 years, then joined the work force and was employed at RMT for 16 years, retiring as administrative services manager in 1996.
She was a member of the Madison Horizons Rotary Club, serving on the board and as secretary for several years.
After retirement, she and her husband traveled to various places around the world.
Survivors include her husband; one son, David (Lisa), Stevens Point; two daughters, Dyann (Philip) Black, Fredericksburg, Va., and Renee (William) DuFour, Prairie to Sac; and five grandchildren, including Jared and Sydney Alery.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Duane; and her grandparents, Jacob and Josephine Christianson Reppen, and Magnus and Lena Glorstad Hestnes.
