Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the Shuda Funeral Chapel in Stevens Point. Burial with full military honors will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Mr. Shippy was born April 22, 1927, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Peter and Helen (Krafta) Shippy. He attended Stevens Point schools.
He entered the U.S. Navy Sept. 29, 1944, in Wausau. He served as a seaman first class on the USS Randall. He was discharged June 22, 1946, in Minneapolis, Minn.
After his honorable discharge he settled in Milwaukee and served in the Milwaukee Fire Department as a firefighter.
He was married to Bette Jane Koltz Dec. 16, 1950, in Milwaukee.
The couple moved to Stevens Point in 1966. He worked for the Nekoosa Paper Mill and the Portage County Highway Department before being employed at the Stevens Point Post Office until his retirement in 1984.
Survivors include his wife; two children, Mike (Peggy) Shippy and Pamela (Ken) Wallock, both of Stevens Point; one brother, Myron (Pat), Stevens Point; four grandchildren, Lindsey (Jerrod) Fahrner, Ashley, Alex and Shannon; and two great-grandsons.
He was also preceded in death by one sister.
