The Stevens Point Area Public School Board approved spending $730,631 for a four-classroom addition to Plover-Whiting Elementary School and renewed School Superintendent Attila Weninger’s contract Monday, Aug. 12, after a nearly three-hour delay before the meeting could start.
The decision to add the classroom addition and accept Ellis Stone Construction Co.’s bid for the project was passed with a project completion deadline of January 2014. The board also passed the vote to install sprinklers in the entire school by September 2014.
However, installing sprinklers at the time of the remodel for the addition is not possible due to the lack of plumbing necessary throughout the building to complete the sprinkler system.
