Raymond F. Flaig, 85, Stevens Point, a retired Stevens Point street superintendent, died Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital. He was under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peter Catholic Church, with the Rev. Dennis Stanchik officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and in the St. Faustina Room of the church from 9:30a.m. Monday until the Mass. An American Legion ritual will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, a Moose ritual at 6:15 p.m. and the Knights of Columbus will combine with the parish rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Flaig was born Nov. 11, 1927, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Joseph and Emma (Langer) Flaig. He attended local schools.
In 1944 he served with the Merchant Marines, then he entered the service on April 4, 1946, at Fort Sheridan, Ill. He served in the Army and received the World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 13, 1947.
He was married to Ramona Koback on July 8, 1946, at St. Peter Catholic Church. She died on Feb. 25, 2011.
He worked for the city of Stevens Point beginning in 1950. In 1963 he became street superintendent. He worked 40 years for the city, retiring in 1990. Prior to working for the city, he worked for Flaig’s Roofing and Heating.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1170, American Legion Post 6, the St. Peter’s Holy Name Society and Moose Family Center.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda (Jerry) Pionek, Stevens Point; two sons, Jim (Terri), Wisconsin Rapids, and Dale (JoAnne), Sun Prairie; one brother, Walter (Lillian), Rudolph; one sister, Helen Niemczak, Stevens Point; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Joseph; four sisters, Christine Snow, Emma Grover, Catherine Czlapinski and Evelyn Isherwood; and one granddaughter.
