A Funeral Mass was held Wednesday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, with the Rev. Thomas Lindner officiating. Burial with military honors was in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Visitation was at the church Wednesday.
A memorial in his name will be established at a later date.

Mr. Bernas was born Aug. 29, 1925, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Casmir and Mary (Opachan) Bernas. He attended local schools.
He was a veteran of World War II. He entered the U.S. Army on Jan. 25, 1943, in Milwaukee. He served with Company B, 534th Boat and Shore Regiment, Combat Engineers, 4th Special Brigade, serving as a marine engineman. He received the American Theater Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal and Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, three Overseas Service Bars, the Meritorious Unit Award and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 22, 1946, at Camp McCoy.
Upon his discharge he served two years with the Wisconsin National Guard as a technician for headquarters battery. He was discharged from the National Guard on May 18, 1948.
He was married to Genevieve Walczak on April 10, 1948, at St. Peter Catholic Church.
After the marriage they settled in Stevens Point.
He was the owner/operator of Ed Bernas Heating and Cooling in Stevens Point for close to 50 years when he retired in 2007.
He was a Scoutmaster for Troop 290 of St. Peter Church and also Explorer Post for older scouts for many years.
He was a member of the Berens-Scribner American Legion Post 6 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Donna (Dave) Suchon, Stevens Point; three sons, Tom (Stephanie), Plover, and Jim (Cindy) and Bob (Carol), both of Stevens Point; one brother, Casmir (Marge), Stevens Point; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one son, John; two brothers, Raymond and Eugene; and two sisters, Theresa and Stella.
