Harry Bungert, 80, West Allis, an Ellis area native, died at the home of his brother, Michael, on Thursday, May 9, 2013, while under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice of Wausau.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, May 20, at the Mary Queen of Heaven Church in Milwaukee. Interment was Wednesday, May 22, at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery in King.
Visitation was at the church Monday, May 20.
Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or to the disabled veterans.
Mr. Bungert was born Aug. 3, 1932, a son of the late Joseph and Pauline Bungert. He was raised in the Ellis area in Portage County.
He joined the United States Army in 1952.
After his discharge he settled in the Milwaukee area. He was a retired employee of General Electric.
Survivors include three brothers, Peter (Barb), Sussex, Bob, Bevent, and Michael (Shirley), Weston; one sister, Josephine Wanta, Bevent; many nieces; and many nephews.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Chester, Donald and Edward; and two sisters, Helen Schwartz and Marie Flatoff.
