Ms. Joerns was born April 20, 1929, in Stevens Point, a daughter of late Frederick C. and Ruth (Jacobs) Joerns. She attended St. Stephen Grade School and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School and Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla.
She was a member of St. Stephen Parish. She was extensively involved in several community activities and organizations and served on a number of boards.
Her lighthearted nature was epitomized by the presence of a pink flamingo in a flower box above the front door of her home, which she dressed in varying costumes during the course of the year honoring a special event or season. That flamingo was noticed by thousands driving down Clark Street.
Survivors include one sister, Mary (Raymond D.) Nass, Stevens Point; three nephews, William C (Lisa) Nass, Des Peres, Mo., Michael C. (Claire) Nass, Northbrook, Ill., and Timothy (Allison) Nass, Wausau; and two nieces, Jane (Brian) Lavin and niece, Susan (Scott) Meisenheimer, both of Edina, Minn.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Frederick “Freddy” Joerns.
