Mr. Tratz was born Sept. 4, 1929, in Tigerton, a son of the late Adolph and Margaret (Johnson) Tratz. He graduated from Tigerton schools.
He entered the U.S. Army and served for two years as a corporal. He returned to the Wausau area after his honorable discharge and began his career.
He was a member of the Pipe Fitters Union 434, and was a journeyman master plumber.
He was married to Kathleen Wroblewski on Nov. 4, 1989, in Stevens Point. They resided there after marriage.
He retired in 1998, and moved up north where he built a retirement home for his wife and himself.
He was a lifetime member of the Wausau Veterans Foreign Wars Post 388.
Survivors include his wife, Stevens Point; one sister, Marjorie Schulz; four children, Christine Moore, Arlo Tratz, Dan Jones and Barbara Jones; four step-daughters, Bobbie Marcoff, Billie (Daniel) Kern, Becky (Bradley) Manowski and Kathy (William) Kubisiak; and 11 grandchildren.
