The Ditchrunners, a Stevens Point-based country, bluegrass and punk band has been gaining momentum after winning the Hodag Country Pick Off March 3 in Hubertus.
Members of The Ditchrunners include Doug “Buckshot” Bredlau, who provides lead vocals; Pete Page, who plays bass and sings; Alex Dalnodar, who plays acoustic guitar and sings; Bob Weigandt, who plays mandolin and sings; and Brian Van Wychen, who plays drums and sings.
Since The Ditchrunners’ inception in 2009, their sound has morphed from classic country to include elements of bluegrass and punk, said Dalnodar.
“After three years of establishing a solid foundation in the Northwoods, the band reached a turning point after bass player Ken Lee and guitar player Jody Dayton left the band due to health issues.” Dalnodar said.
The future of the band was uncertain during a long break in 2011, Dalnodar said. However, The Ditchrunners bounced back in early 2012 when Pagel, Dalnodar and Bredlau started writing a new Ditchrunners EP.
