Donald G. Higgins, 79, Stevens Point, died March 11, 2013, at Ministry St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Boston Funeral Home, with the Rev. Timothy Roser officiating. Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Park in Grand Rapids.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Friday until the service.

Mr. Higgins was born Oct. 28, 1933, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Walter and Aurelia (Dimka). He grew up in Junction City, attended the local grade school and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School.
He was married to Josephine Polcin on Sept. 10, 1955, in Stevens Point.
He worked at a young age as a line man and switchboard operator for the local telephone company. He later became employed as a general patrolman with the Portage County Highway Department, where he worked for more than 36 years, retiring in March 1990.
In his earlier years, he coached several softball teams.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Bruce, Tom, Terry (Melissa), Kenneth (Kelly), and Willy (Shelly); five daughters, Barbara (Mike) Skibinski, Lenore “Bunny” (Pete) Albert, Judy (Terrence) Dziak, Carol Abraham, Lynda (John) Totzke; 29 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
