Barney J. “BJ” Firkus Sr., 77, Almond, died Friday, March 8, 2013, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in the town of Buena Vista, with the Rev. Hector Moreno officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in the spring.
Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the service.

Mr. Firkus was born April 16, 1935, in Galloway, a son of the late Vincent and Stella Firkus Sr.
He was married to Susanne Yehling on March 3, 1984, in Mesa, Ariz.
They moved to the Stevens Point area in 1987.
He was a truck driver for many years and worked with the Amish community, making deliveries.
He was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Church.
Survivors include his wife; six children, Terry Firkus, Wittenberg, Barney Firkus Jr., Houston, Texas, Dion Firkus, Stevens Point, Maria Munoz, Milwaukee, Jason Hahn, Plover, and Michael (Kati) Firkus, Almond; one stepson, Kris (Sharon) Yehling, Amherst; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers and three infant sisters.
