Brent Twit, a 2000 graduate of Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH), was recently commissioned to paint a portrait of golfer Phil Mickelson for the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, a charity golf tournament held Feb. 4 to 10 at the Monterey Peninsula Country Club in Monterey, Calif.
The painting, which shows Mickelson on the green in front of crashing waves during the 2012 tournament, was used on many event items, such as banners and advertisements, said Twit.
Twit attended the event, along with celebrities such as Bill Murray, Ray Romano, Carson Daly, Josh Duhamel, Wayne Gretzky and Aaron Rodgers, who played for charity.
Twit credits his art classes at SPASH in helping him become a professional artist and actor.
“My teachers really pushed the arts and it goes to show how important the arts are,” Twit said.
