John Philip Czerwonka, 69, Wittenberg, a former postmaster at Rosholt and Nelsonville, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at his home while under the care of his family and AseraCare Hospice, Wausau.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galloway, with the Rev. Augustine Bentil officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Galloway, with military rites conducted by Bloecher-Johnson American Legion Post 502.
Visitation will be at the church from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a rosary prayed at 7:30 p.m., and again from 10 a.m. Friday until the Mass.

Mr. Czerwonka was born Feb. 5, 1944, in Chicago, Ill., a son of the late Pearl (Czerwonka) and Walter Fleck.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1962-1965.
He was married to Maribeth Walli on July 1, 1967, in Milwaukee.
He worked as postmaster for Rosholt and Nelsonville for many years.
He was a member of various committees and organizations.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Ann (Jerry) Pagel, Kronenwetter, Lisa (Mark) O’Shasky, Wisconsin Rapids, Christine (Ted) Kowalski, Oak Harbor, Wash., and Maria (Karl) Riebe, Abrams; one son, John (Ronda), Rothschild; one brother, Michael Fleck, Milwaukee; one sister, Sharon Fleck, Milwaukee; and 12 grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Joan; one sister, Margaret; his maternal grandparents, Helen and John Czerwonka; and a special uncle, Maynard Czerwonka.
