U.S Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., discussed the changes in the field of health care with employees of Delta Dental in Stevens Point on Tuesday, Feb. 18, focusing on how the Affordable Care Act (ACA) will affect Central Wisconsin residents and local insurance companies.
Baldwin said she came to visit Delta Dental because it is a Wisconsin-based not-for-profit dental-service corporation and is the state’s largest dental care provider.
“I know Delta Dental is a success story. I wanted to see more of it and to see its impact on the economy,” said Baldwin.
Baldwin serves on several Senate committees that focus on budget and health care concerns, including Health, Education, Labor and Pensions and the Committee on the budget.
Dennis Peterson, the executive vice president of Delta Dental, said he was concerned that dental care would be undervalued in the Senate’s discussion because it is a small part of the complete health care system.
“Our passion is that everyone has access to quality dental care. We don’t want dental to be lost in the equation,” he said.
