Karen Carpenter, 73, Carlsbad, Calif., sister of a Stevens Point man, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013.
Mrs. Carpenter was born Oct. 8, 1939, in Wisconsin Rapids, a daughter of the late Bernie R. Sobczak and Marion Heltsley. She attended local schools and graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids.
She was married to Robert Carpenter in October 1960 in Unity.
She worked as a waitress Conley’s for many years. Later she moved to Carlsbad, Calif., and managed apartment complexes until her retirement.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa (Jon) Timmerman, Oceanside, Calif., and Linda Kelly, Issaquah, Wash.; two sisters, Marilyn (Jack) Kettleson, Wisconsin Rapids, and Benita (Ron) Linden, Trinity, Texas; two brothers, Rodney (Mary) Sobczak, Stevens Point, and Kelly (Luisa) Heltsley, Colima, Mexico; and three grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Sharrel Garski-Hayes; and one brother, Kenneth Heltsley.
