Seems everyone’s got an opinion on gun control these days, and so do I. For what it’s worth, here’s my two cents.
Personally, I have always felt that people who choose to own guns should know how to use them properly before they are allowed to own and use them. We do this with cars to ensure the public’s safety, so it makes sense to do it with guns as well. You wouldn’t think of driving a car without understanding how it works and the rules of the road, and firearms fall into the same category.
Statistics show that most people who get hurt or killed with their own guns do so because they don’t know how to use them. Learning how to properly use and respect a gun would prevent people from purchasing guns on a whim, and in an emotional state. It would show people that owning a gun is a very serious endeavor. It would seem that someone would have thought of this a long time ago, but somehow it hasn’t happened.
